NATIONAL GREAT DAY OF RIDING

It seems by Bro Dave had as great a day riding on Sunday as I had. The weather sounded equally great in the Los Angeles area. Bro Dave was impressed with one of the riders in his small group – 8 year old Desmond. He reported that Desmond kept up with him and Desmond’s Dad, Rob, throughout their single track adventure.

This morning Rob was kind enough to send along an image of Desmond with Bro Dave on his crank forward.

Dyount_singletrack(Hmm, whose keeping up with whom?)

Here’s to some great fall riding on both coasts and all points in between!

Until later,

It was a beautiful day. This shot was after I decided to get out of Desmond's way and let him lead the way! This was by far the most challenging single-track I've done on the Crankforward. (This picture is not representative of the how tough the trail got in places.) The CF is proving to be a great off-road substitute for a mountain bike FOR ME. Because of the longer wheel-base, some of the hairpin turns are more challenging. And I still find it pretty much impossible to stand and pedal in situations where that is the only way out of tight or steep terrain. The rear wheel just unweights too much when I stand and I lose traction and that's the end of any forward progress. But all in all, I am really enjoying this bike.

Desmond was awesome on some really tough trails and especially on the big climb at the end. He smashed his personal record for riding out of the canyon before having to stop and rest. Rob told me to be prepared to walk the bikes out of the canyon, but Desmond must have heard him and decided to prove his old man wrong!
