YES!!!! THEY ARE COMING!

I’m pleased to formerly announce that Russ Roca and Laura Crawford, those world famous cyclists known as The Path Less Pedaled, have agreed to join the 3rd Annual Blue Ridge Breakaway sponsored by the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce!

(Russ Roca and Laura Crawford taking a break on their travels!)

We are excited to have them join us on August 17th and August 18th in beautiful…

Haywood County in the Great Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina for this gorgeous and challenging event for riders.

Russ and Laura will be making two public presentations while in Haywood and will participate in the ride itself, as well as, be available to the public during the event. The first presentation will be at Laurel Ridge Country Club and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Waynesville and BicycleHaywoodNC, a chapter of Blue Ridge Bicycle Club. This presentation will be for local business leaders, elected officials, and community service club members. Russ and Laura will be focusing upon the economic benefits of building a bicycle friendly community and businesses based upon their experiences as they travel around America, and more recently, New Zealand. They will have for sale a number of their outstanding cycling related products. The evening presentation will be for registered participants of the Blue Ridge Breakaway, their family members, and the general public. This presentation will occur at Lake Junaluska Assembly, which serves as the start and finish site of the Breakaway.

For more information and to register for this exciting event, visit Blue Ridge Breakaway or the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce. Please also feel free to leave questions in the comments section here and I will answer as quickly as possible.

I am pumped! Come join us August 17th and August 18th, 2012!

Great news. Their presentation are very entertaining. I'll make a point to attend.

I'm looking forward to doing this ride as well. It sounds as if Haywood county is becoming a very bike friendly community. Jack

I am very excited that they are coming. I think it will be a great addition to the BRB and for our community as we continue to develop our bike plan. I have not forgotten your invaluable advice on this matter and am still very appreciative of it!

Are both presentations on Friday the 17? One in the day and one at night? I'm just trying to plan my travels over there ( since I'm riding there from Knoxville)

Thanks

Jon

Hi Jon,

Yes, both presentations are on Friday. The Lunch 'N Learn for business persons is at 1:00 p.m. and the more general presentation for ride participants and the general pubic is that evening most likely in the 7:15 to 7:30 time range but that is not yet set in stone.

Hi Jon,

The Lunch 'N Learn is primarily intended for the business community, however, we would be glad to have you join us. The Waynesville Rotary Club is sponsoring the luncheon event along with BicycleHaywoodNC. Cost of the meal is $12.00. The event will be held at Laurel Ridge Country Club in Waynesville. Contact me via my email address (see About Me) and I can give you further directions. We will be trying to get a head count so that sufficient food can be prepared.
